While becoming a mom can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, pregnancy is not always easy on your body. A research team from the University of Minnesota recently followed more than 500 pregnant women and discovered that body dissatisfaction postpartum was strikingly common, even in women who were only five or ten pounds over their pre-pregnancy weights.
While a healthy diet and consistent exercise routine can help, sometimes Mother Nature needs a little help. This is especially true if you've had multiples or if you've had more than one or two pregnancies overall. At Pryor Health, our Mommy Makeover procedures can help get you back your pre-pregnancy body. We offer different treatments that be used in combination to help you get the look you want. Liposuction
Liposuction can help sculpt off those last few stubborn pounds. While you're under sedation, the plastic surgeon will make a few small incisions. Then, using a long and thin probe called a cannula, fat is broken up and vacuumed out. This can be an effective treatment for areas that are difficult to tone such as the lower abdomen, the outsides of the thighs and the upper arms.
Sclerotherapy
The weight gain from pregnancy can cause varicose veins, especially in the legs. If you've noticed the formation of small spider veins, Sclerotherapy can collapse them and encourage your body to reroute the blood supply. Just a few injections can help eliminate these veins and improve the appearance of your legs for the long term.
C-Section Scar Removal
It can be tricky to reduce the appearance of C-section scars, but laser resurfacing can make it nearly invisible by removing top layers of skin and revealing younger, smoother skin. If the C-section scar is too high and cannot be covered by underwear or a bikini bottom, a scar revision may be possible. This can be done along with a tummy tuck or as a stand-alone procedure.
Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation and implants do not impact breast health. However, they can impair your ability to breastfeed. If you do not plan on any future pregnancies and are unhappy with your breasts, a lift can help get you a more youthful figure.
If pregnancy and breastfeeding have you feeling self-conscious about your body, contact us today to schedule a consultation and see what a Mommy Makeover can do for you.
