To Peel or Not To Peel? Introducing PRX: The non-peeling peel

The past few years have been rough. You’ve definitely earned some major R&R. Let’s give ourselves a fresh start to begin the new year, shall we?

Skin peels are the best way to rejuvenate and replenish your skin. Typical chemical peels work by removing the keratin layer of dead skin cells that sit on the skin’s surface and stimulating the production of new healthy skin cells.

While you may be new to the skin peel game, humans have actually been using skin peels for a long time.

HISTORY

Early records show that peels were used by ancient Egyptians when women applied sour milk to their skin. Sour milk contains lactic acid, which is a powerful exfoliant. In Roman times, people would use grapes to exfoliate their skin. The chemicals in the grapes would fade freckles and even out skin tone. Even though the 1960s, peels were used to heal and resurface the skin with the use of different acids.

With any resurfacing treatment, there’s some healing time involved which can be intimidating to some people. So, To peel or not to peel? This is the question. Luckily you don’t have to choose beautiful skin over your PTO. We’ve evolved the peel even further to eliminate the healing time completely.

ABOUT PRX

At PryorHealth, we have something called the PRX. It’s a biorevitalization therapy that tightens the skin without exfoliation. PRX is a non-peeling peel that was originally developed as a treatment for scars on children and is much more gentle than your typical peel. In medical terms, the PRX peel contains a combination of trichloroacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and kojic acid. The peel penetrates deep down to the basal layer of the skin, stimulating it to regenerate and renew without damaging the top layer.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During your session, your freshly washed and dried skin will be massaged with PRX, a gel-like substance, until it is completely absorbed (about 2-5 applications). We then rinse and apply a moisturizing and nourishing cream. The session typically lasts 30 minutes. There’s no downtime, but you do get all the benefits of a normal peel!

BENEFITS OF PRX:

  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Painless - no bruising or redness
  • Increases brightness and radiance
  • Firming
  • Hydration
  • Skin tightening
  • No photo sensitiveness - so you can do this in the summer months!
